Wraparound Services Strengthen the Path to Recovery

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) recovery isn’t solely about clinical treatment. During the third week of Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month, SAMHSA is highlighting a crucial part of recovery often overlooked: wraparound services.

Wraparound services are supports that surround someone in treatment — helping with life’s practical challenges so treatment can be more successful and sustainable. These services don’t replace treatment — they complement it, making recovery more achievable for more people.

🏠 Recovery Housing

A stable, supportive place to live can make all the difference. Recovery housing offers a structured environment that reinforces healthy routines, accountability, and community support — all of which play a big role in staying engaged with treatment and building a foundation for long-term wellness.

🚗 Transportation Support

Getting to appointments, therapy, support groups, and counseling shouldn’t be an obstacle. Some providers offer transportation assistance so people can make it to the care they need — because consistent access matters. When exploring treatment options, it’s okay — and helpful — to ask about transportation support.

🧑‍💼 Employment Services

Financial stability and a sense of purpose are powerful drivers of lasting recovery. Job skills training, workforce readiness programs, and job placement services help people move forward with confidence and independence.

Wraparound services help fill the gaps that everyday life can throw at someone working toward recovery. They address real barriers — like housing, transportation, and employment — so people don’t have to fight their battles alone.
